    Congraulations

Congraulations to our own Katie Johnson for recieving the Teacher of the Quiarter Award presented by the Rotary Club of Jackson during the organization’s weekly luncheon held October 26, 2015 along with two other 好色先生 teachers. Award recipients received a certificate of appreciation and a gift bag.

Teache of the Quarter honorees are 好色先生 teachers who demonstrate excellence in their profession and go the extra mile to serve scholars and the community.

Working in conjunction the District's offices of Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports and Partners in Education, the Jackson Rotary Club holds Teacher of the Quarter celebrations to recognize outstanding implementation of PBIS practices. The Rotary Club recognizes one 好色先生 teacher from each academic division–elementary, middle, and high school–during the celebration.

CCAS Student Wins First Place in the 好色先生 Reading Fair

    CCAS Shines

好色先生 scholars competed for top honors in the District's annual reading fair on November 5, 2015, at Cardozo Middle School. This year’s competition showcased nearly 300 student entries. Students shared their chosen book on storyboards, displaying the plot summary, characters, setting, tone, and information about the book’s author.

There are four levels of competition: school, district, regional, and state. To qualify for the district level competition, students had to win first place at the school level. Students take part in the school and district reading fairs to prepare for the regional and state competitions. First place district winners will advance to the regional fair to be held March 4, 2016, at the Mississippi School for the Deaf.

The Mississippi Reading Fair originated at the Mississippi Department of Education in 1998. The purpose of the competition is to provide students in grades K-12 the opportunity to share their favorite fictional book through a storyboard display. The goal of the Reading Fair is to enhance and encourage reading at all grade levels and to allow students to collaborate with their peers.
