Ms. Jameshia Brown
Hello,
I am Jameshia Brown. I am originally from Madison, MS, but I also grew up in Canton, Jackson, and Belzoni. I graduated from the University of Mississippi as a Psychology and African American Studies double major. In my African American Studies courses, there were constant discussions on the education disparities experienced in underrepresented areas, especially here in Mississippi. I am also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. who places education at its core. I crossed paths with Teach for America close to graduation while my head was spinning with what was next. Teach for America aligned with my values and opened up opportunities that would be beneficial to my career goals. Here I am, a first year teacher excited to provide students with an engaging and equitable learning environment.
I still have plans to go back to school to receive my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology to continue to foster students with safe and comforting environments that encourage learning and satisfaction in life.
More personally, I currently enjoy crocheting, playing sudoku, and reading in my free time. I enjoy a good meal always, especially when I am feeling off.
I also serve as the girl's track coach. I ran track in school and was also trained outside of school for a couple of years.
