Dr. Linda Murray

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Galloway Elementary School, where we “Educate Scholars on Purpose with Purpose” to strive for excellence! It is truly an honor and privilege to serve as your Principal.

Dr. Linda Murray has been the principal of Galloway for four years and counting, moving the school up to an "A" rating in course performance. Murray is dedicated to ensuring that the Pre-Kindergarten through fifth-grade campus of Galloway Elementary provides a safe, nurturing, and child-centered environment in which the scholars can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. She encourages scholars to learn, celebrating their creativity, initiative, and individuality, through their daily interactions in the classroom, as well as, through their participation in many supplemental and enriching programs. The faculty and staff at Galloway Elementary are committed to treating scholars as individuals, providing personalized attention, and encouraging each scholar to reach his/her full potential.

During Murray's five-year tenure as principal of Barr Elementary School, she was named the 好色先生 Administrator of the Year in 2019 for her transformative leadership that reshaped the culture of the school and propelled its performance rating of a B for 3 consecutive years. Under her leadership, the school was also recognized as a Model PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) School by REACH Mississippi and for School Success by the Mississippi Secretary of State's Office. During Murray's 27-year career, she has served in Jackson Public Schools as an assistant teacher, teacher, literacy coach, instructional specialist, and building administrator.

Dr. Murray holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Jackson State University and a Master of Education, Education Specialist, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College. She successfully defended her dissertation in the fall of 2023 at Mississippi College.

As we begin and continue this school year, we think it is important to have our end goals in mind. In that way, we will be reminded of what we are working toward. This process is an addition to having a microscopic effect on our Academics, Behavior, and Course Performance.

The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule but to schedule your priorities. - Stephen Covey
