History
John Hopkins Elementary School was built in 1978. John Hopkins is an urban elementary school and is a part of the Jackson Public School District. The school is located on 170 John Hopkins Avenue in the far northwestern corner of Jackson on the border of the city of Clinton. The school plant covers 66,664 square feet with 42 classrooms, a media center, cafetorium, and office space on a campus of 6.9 acres. John Hopkins currently has one Pre-K class, three kindergarten classes, three first grade classes, three second grade classes, three third grade classes, three fourth grade classes, three fifth grade classes, two self-contained exceptional education classes, one music classroom, one counselor classroom, one in-school suspension classroom, one Open Doors classroom, and one speech therapy classroom.
