Ms. Elana Tate
Biography
Ms. Tate is a certified education administrator with 22 years of productive service in teaching and building-level leadership. She has developed her knowledge and skills in the areas of program development, parent engagement, curriculum development and educator training. She previously served as the interventionist/test coordinator for Lester Elementary in Jackson Public Schools. In that role, she was charged with improving the academic achievement and behavior of all students. To accomplish this, she led the school in implementing intervention strategies which included engaging parents in the process. Even at the beginning of her career as an elementary classroom teacher, she was identified as a leader and appointed lead teacher by the principal. She is accomplished in raising student academic performance and addressing student discipline. Drawing on her extensive repertoire of subject matter expertise, Ms. Tate also has significant experience developing the professional skills of fellow educators.
Ms. Tate holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Alcorn State University, a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education, and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College.
Her community involvement activities include serving as youth director for Jackson District church affiliates, volunteering for Homeless Haven Ministries, and serving on the leadership team for Hearts of Beauty, a multi-state conference for women.
