WHAT’S IN A NAME?
Sponsor: Ms. Brown
Introducing: The Northwest Ambassadors of MusicalExcellence-NAME
The NAME is a newly found group of musicians attending Northwest Jackson IB World Middle School who take pride in their academic and music education, and their social awareness which includes behavioral status and self-discipline. These students are the leaders and Ambassadors of the school because they take pride in making the right choices about school and behavior. They are focused on their academic achievements as well as their musical excellence in that they represent their parents, teachers, communities, and themselves by their positive actions and display of their musical talents. They are public relations persons through the musical skills as they perform for various events such as football games, pep rallies, school programs, parades, honors organizations, and concerts for a variety of causes.
This organization is made from all music students in the band and choir; therefore, they must present themselves through proper morals and values that will be outlined within the NAME rules and regulations. Band students are already a part of the “Sound of Precision” Band so named by their band director, Ms. Wangela Brown because of her beliefs in having a clear, precise sound with the correct balance and blend that emits a unique sound from a middle school band. The “Sound of Precision” Choir has also been given the same name to show the diversity in middle school aged voices with the belief that they can also have a well-balanced sound.
This organization will include a student Board consisting of a President, Vice-President, Academic Officer, Behavioral Officer, Secretary, and Account Specialist with the band and Choral Music Directors as overseers of the organization. Committee members will be set-up and will include the section leaders of the band and choir. The Board and Committee members will meet twice a month regularly (day and time has not been determined) and in emergency situations if there is a need.
All students are required to be their best in academic and behavioral standing. Failure to do so can and will result in performance probation. Students MUST show respect to ALL teachers, counselors, faculty, cafeteria, and custodial staff at Northwest. This includes all other adults affiliated with Northwest such as substitute teachers and guest who visit the school.
Further information will be available about this organization in the very near future to ensure that it is properly handled with a clear understanding of the requirements, duties, and responsibilities of all students who are to become a part of the NAME.
